Design and Display:
The Sony Xperia Z2 is very similar to the Z1 in the ergonomics department. It has the vintage power lock button which feels solid. Also, the dedicated camera button is a bonus which we only get to see in lumia devices. The volume rocker is on the left side of the phone which gives a decent feedback and does not feel mushy. The front and the back is covered with glass which gives you premium feel when you hold the phone in your hand. The Xperia Z2 is IP 58 certified which means it’s dust and water resistant so for that there are flaps around the USB jack and the charging port. It sports 5.2” 16M-color 1080p IPS capacitive touchscreen Triluminos display X-Reality engine which gives a pixel density of 424 ppi(pixel per inch). The colors will pop out of the screen and give you some really amazing viewing experience.
The Sony Xperia Z2 runs on android’s latest 4.4.2 KitKat out of the box with a little tweaks by Sony which includes the album app, the weather app and the vintage Walkman music app which only keeps getting better.
The user interface is smooth and crisp with no lags whatsoever, kudos to the giant 3 gigs of RAM. However not everyone is a fan of the the UI sony provides in it’s phones but it pretty much does what it needs to.
Z2 comes with a 20.7 MP camera which is similar to it’s predecessor Z1, the only enhancement is sensor.
The upgrade is from 1/3” Exmor RS sensor to 1/2.3” which is approx. 70% bigger and uses the wide angle 27mm Sony G lens with f/2.0 aperture. It basically means there will be more light that will fall on the sensor of your camera and will be helpful in low light photography.
The camera of xperia z2 comes with a little software enhancements too. Background Defocus is one such feature which allows you to blur the background of your image which actually works decently and gives the “WOW!” factor to your images. It also supports 4K recording which does a neat job too.
Overall the camera of Xperia Z2 can be rated as one of the best smartphone cameras as the pictures taken on it are vivid and have great picture reproduction.
The Xperia Z2 has Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset clocked at 2.2 Ghz Krait 400 processor with an Adreno 300 GPU. The opening and closing of apps is like a breeze. High end games which require high graphics like Injustice, Asphault and many more are enjoyable without losing any frames when in the game.
Though 801 is not the latest chipset it performs well and the 3 GB RAM makes performing tasks simple.
The Xperia Z2 consists of 3200 mAh Li-ion Battery which is non removable. By the results the phone will easily take a day or maximu two to discharge with heavy usage which is decent.
The latest flagship by sony will be compared to the likes of Samsung Galaxy S5, HTC ONE(M8) and LG G3 and Iphone 5s. It’s a tough call when you have to decide amongst these, isn’t it?
The answer is yes it is but it all depends what you want from a phone.
Galaxy S5 has a great camera too, it comes bundled with a bunch of it’s own features like the S health, the heart rate monitor, the finger print scanner etc.
The HTC one(M8) is has the best built quality of the lot, with a simplistic UI and a good chipset it has the potential to deliver the best performance as compared to all other flagships.
LG G3 consists of the quad HD display, it has a pixel density of over 500 ppi. If you are the person who wants the best display then hands down, LG G3 is the phone you need. With slim bezels and crisp display LG G3 is the better looking handsets of the lot and last but never the least Iphone 5s, it’s been over a year since it was launched and it is still going strong in the market all thanks to it’s retina display, the 64 bit processor and the camera.
Again, it comes down to what you need. Every phone mentioned has their pros and cons but that is okay right? Nothing is perfect. Besides, the minor hiccups or the comparisons madde between phones are a very small thing. For a normal use all the phones perform exceptionally well.
The Sony Xperia Z2 is a full power house. It’s display, it’s built quality, the camera, the user interface and everything else about it makes the Sony Xperia Z2 worth every penny you pay for it. Indeed, Awesomeness redifened!
